One of the super-king rooms can be made up as a twin room for those that need it, and the fourth room with bunk beds will delight the kids. What’s more, with a large separate family bathroom and an extra toilet downstairs, there’ll be no queues for the bathroom – very handy when travelling with groups. And if you’re looking for a Cornish holiday cottage with character, this Grade II-listed farmhouse has bags of it. Part of the building – now the living room – is listed in the Doomsday book while the rest was added in the 17th Century. There are original features throughout, like the vaulted ceilings in the bedrooms and the clome oven in the now dining room, where the farmers would have cooked their food next to the open fire. Thankfully The Old Farmhouse has had some upgrades in recent years so you won’t need to cook your meals over the fire: your fully-fitted kitchen with range cooker, breakfast bar, and utility room will make self-catering a joy. Plus there’s underfloor heating under the original flagstone floor, and the luxury bathrooms have walk-in showers. Gather around the dining table to eat by a roaring fire, or enjoy a feast al fresco whatever the weather in your own covered outdoor seating area. In the summer you can fire up the BBQ, or book out the pavilion for a picnic at the top of the hill with stunning views across the Cornish countryside. And after a long day of exploring, spend a balmy evening in your tranquil south-facing garden. Watch the sunset from your outdoor sofas and gaze at the stars in your private hot tub. Then curl up together in front of the wood burner in the cosy living room.
