Bringing children, dogs and groups

Every Hidden Place is different. Some are ideal for families and dogs, while others may have restrictions because of livestock, wildlife, terrain or safety considerations.

Always check the listing carefully before booking and contact the host if you are unsure whether your group is suitable.

Children

Children are welcome only where the Place and Experience are suitable for them.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising children throughout the visit.

• Keep children within permitted areas.
• Supervise children near water, woodland and roads.
• Do not allow children to climb fences or gates.
• Respect any restricted areas identified by the host.
• Follow any age guidance provided in the listing.

Dogs

Some Places welcome dogs, while others cannot because of livestock, conservation work or other reasons.

If dogs are permitted, owners remain responsible for them at all times.

• Keep dogs under control.
• Use a lead where requested.
• Clean up after your dog.
• Prevent dogs from disturbing wildlife.
• Keep dogs away from livestock unless instructed otherwise.

Group size

Only bring the number of people included in your booking.

Maximum group sizes are set for reasons such as safety, parking, facilities and the protection of the land.

If your plans change and additional people wish to attend, contact the host before your visit.

Additional visitors

Do not invite extra visitors who are not included in the booking.

Unexpected guests may invalidate the booking or prevent the host from accommodating your visit safely.

Respect the land

Many Hidden Places are privately owned and may include working farms, woodland, conservation areas or family land.

• Stay within the booked area.
• Do not climb gates or fences.
• Leave crops, plants and trees undisturbed.
• Do not feed livestock or wildlife.
• Take all litter home unless bins are provided.

Noise and consideration

Please remember that nearby residents, neighbouring landowners and wildlife may all be affected by excessive noise.

Keep music and noise to an appropriate level throughout your visit.

Follow any quiet hours or additional rules provided by the host.

Parking and vehicles

Only park where the host has instructed.

• Do not block gates or access tracks.
• Respect neighbouring properties.
• Only bring the number of vehicles agreed.
• Drive slowly on private land.

Some access roads may be narrow, uneven or shared with farm vehicles.

Activities

Only carry out the activity that was agreed when the booking was made.

If you would like to do something different, contact the host before your visit.

Protect wildlife

Hidden Places often exist because they provide peaceful natural environments.

Please help protect them by:

• Leaving plants and flowers undisturbed.
• Keeping dogs under control.
• Taking litter away.
• Avoiding unnecessary noise.
• Respecting seasonal wildlife activity.

Your responsibility as the booking holder

The person who makes the booking is responsible for everyone in their group.

Before arriving, make sure everyone understands:

• The booking rules.
• Arrival and departure times.
• Where they may go.
• Parking arrangements.
• How to respect the host's property.
• How to behave safely around livestock and wildlife.

Every Place is unique. If you have any questions about bringing children, dogs or a larger group, contact the host before your visit.

Hosts are usually happy to answer questions and it is always better to ask beforehand than arrive unexpectedly.
