Choose the Place and Experience
Start by opening the Place you are interested in and selecting the specific Experience you want to book.
Read both the Place description and the Experience details before continuing.
Check that the Experience matches:
- The activity you are planning.
- The number of people attending.
- The amount of time you need.
- Your preferred date and time.
- Any facilities or access requirements.
Select your date and time
Choose an available date and, where required, the time or booking period you would like.
The options shown will depend on whether the Experience is offered hourly, for a half-day, for a full day or by the night.
A date may become unavailable if another booking is confirmed before your request is accepted and paid.
Enter your booking details
Provide the information requested as accurately as possible.
This may include:
- The number of guests.
- Your intended activity.
- Your preferred arrival and departure times.
- Whether children or dogs will attend.
- Any equipment you plan to bring.
- Accessibility or support requirements.
- A message for the host.
Do not leave out information that could affect whether the host is able to accept the booking.
Review the price
Before submitting your request, review the price and booking details carefully.
Confirm:
- The Experience selected.
- The date and duration.
- The number of guests.
- The booking price.
- Any platform or payment charges shown.
- Any cancellation terms presented during checkout.
Do not continue if the details do not match what you intended to book.
Submit the booking request
When the information is correct, submit the booking request to the host.
The host can then review your request and decide whether the visit is suitable.
Do not travel to the Place or make non-refundable arrangements until Hidden Places shows that your booking is confirmed.
What happens after you submit?
After receiving your request, the host may:
- Accept the request.
- Decline the request.
- Send you a message asking for more information.
Check your Hidden Places conversations and account email for updates.
Respond to host questions
A host may need to clarify your activity, group size, vehicles, equipment or arrival arrangements before accepting.
Reply promptly and honestly through the Hidden Places conversation. Delayed or incomplete information may prevent the host from making a decision.
If the host accepts your request
An accepted request may still require payment before the booking becomes fully confirmed.
Follow the instructions shown in Hidden Places and complete payment within any stated time limit.
If payment is not completed, the request may expire or the date may become available to other guests.
Complete payment securely
Make payment only through the Hidden Places checkout process.
Payment information is handled securely by the platform's payment provider.
Do not pay by bank transfer, cash or another payment service for a booking being arranged through Hidden Places.
When is the booking confirmed?
Your booking should only be treated as confirmed when Hidden Places displays the confirmed status and any required payment has been completed successfully.
An enquiry, submitted request or host message alone does not confirm the booking.
After confirmation
Once confirmed:
- Review the date, time and guest numbers again.
- Read any arrival instructions from the host.
- Check access, parking and facilities.
- Ask any remaining practical questions.
- Prepare suitable clothing and equipment.
- Tell the host promptly if your plans change.
If your request is declined
A host may decline because the Place is unavailable, your plans are unsuitable or the Experience cannot meet your requirements.
A declined request does not create a booking and you should not travel to the Place.
You can return to Explore and choose another Place, Experience or date.
Avoid duplicate requests
Do not repeatedly submit the same request while waiting for the host to respond.
Check your bookings and conversations first. Multiple requests can create confusion and may result in more than one booking progressing.
Check everything before travelling
Before setting off, confirm that:
- The booking still shows as confirmed.
- You have the correct date and arrival time.
- You have received the necessary directions.
- You understand the Place rules.
- The host has been told about any important changes.
