Availability

Understand the availability calendar and keep your booking dates accurate.

What is the availability calendar?

The availability calendar controls when your Place can and cannot receive bookings.

Availability is managed at Place level rather than separately for each Experience. This helps prevent two different Experiences from being booked at the same Place at the same time.

One calendar for the whole Place

When a date is unavailable for one Experience, it is treated as unavailable for all Experiences at that Place.

Understanding the calendar statuses

Each date can have one of four statuses.

Available

The Place is open for booking on this date.

Blocked

You have temporarily prevented guests from booking this date.

Booked

The Place has a confirmed booking and cannot accept another booking for the same date.

Closed

The Place is not normally offered on this date or during this period.

Available

Use Available when guests should be able to request or book an Experience at your Place.

Keep your calendar accurate and only mark dates as Available when you are genuinely able to host.

Blocked

Use Blocked for temporary periods when you do not want to accept bookings.

Examples include:

  • Personal use of the Place.
  • Maintenance or repairs.
  • A private event.
  • Temporary access problems.
  • Seasonal ground conditions.

You can add a reason when blocking a date or date range. This reason is visible in your host calendar and helps you remember why the period was made unavailable.

Booked

Booked indicates that a confirmed guest booking is using the Place.

In normal use, confirmed bookings should update the calendar automatically. Hosts should not usually need to mark dates as Booked manually.

Avoid double-booking

Do not make a booked date available again unless the associated booking has been cancelled or moved.

Closed

Use Closed when the Place is generally not offered for bookings during a particular period.

This may be useful for:

  • A seasonal closure.
  • A long period of renovation.
  • Periods when the land is unsuitable for guest use.
  • Dates outside your normal operating season.

Use Blocked for shorter temporary interruptions and Closed for longer or more deliberate periods of non-operation.

Changing a single date

Select a date in the calendar to open the date editor. Choose the required status and add a reason where appropriate.

Save the change and the calendar will update to show the new status.

Changing several dates

You can select a range of dates rather than editing each day individually.

Use the range editor or drag across dates in the calendar, choose the required status and enter an optional reason.

Check the start and end dates carefully before saving, especially when blocking or closing a long period.

Moving between months

Use the previous and next arrows above the calendar to move between months.

Review future months regularly so guests do not see dates as available when you are unable to host.

Keep your calendar up to date

An accurate calendar protects both you and your guests. Update it as soon as you become unavailable or when access to the Place changes.

Repeatedly declining requests for dates shown as available may reduce guest confidence in your listing.
